It's that time of the year when we start thinking about New Year's resolutions. It’s no secret that most New Year's resolutions are fitness related, and we tend to idolise celebrities we see on the big screen or glossy magazine covers when looking for fitness inspiration.
That's why sports nutrition brand Bulk was inspired to investigate this rising trend and look into the search volume for celebrity and superhero workouts. The research revealed that the searches for celebrity/superhero workouts spike around highly anticipated Marvel and DC film releases which encouraged Bulk to collate a list of celebrity bodies that inspire people to work out.
For example, the search for Scarlett Johanson's workout increased by 166% in July 2021 when the Black Widow solo film was released. Moreover, there was a massive spike in Google searches for Gal Gadot in November 2021, when searches for her workout increased by 631%.
Bulk's research revealed that Scarlett Johansson tops the list of female celebrity workouts with 165,580 searches a year, beating out Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, with 129,860 searches. Margot Robbie, who played an iconic DC villain Harley Quinn rounded out the top three workouts with 114,440 searches.

Bulk also put together a report on what superhero workouts the world is searching for the most on Google, YouTube and viewing on TikTok. The research revealed that the Batman workout (198,330 searches) was the most in-demand superhero workout in 2022, followed by the Thor workout (160,800 searches) and Superman's exercise regimen (147,950 searches). Two female superheroes – Black Widow and Wonder Woman made it on the list of the most in-demand superhero workouts in 2022 with 32,740 and 24,510 searches respectively.

On YouTube, Thor’s workout is the most popular workout with 1,260,000 searches. A Superman workout ranked second with 1,092,000 searches followed by a Batman workout with 1,027,000 searches.
As for TikTok, the Thor workout is the most popular, scoring an immense 4,600,000 views. The Black Widow workout came second with 1,200,000 views on Tik Tok, while the Spiderman workout rounded out the top three most viewed workouts with 699,400 views.
There are lots of celebrity workouts to be inspired by but it’s important to remember that there is much more to wellness than just your appearance. The focus should be on finding a realistic workout that works for you, that you enjoy doing and that keeps you motivated.
