Meditation 101: How to Descent from Stress into Mindfulness

Silence isn't empty, it is full of answers and so is meditation.

Especially, when it gets dark and gloomy. The more you look around, the more lost you feel. You are unable to think when you feel those walls are crushing in from all sides. Your mind is in utter chaos. You might have not been able to see the door bringing you out of there. But there is a way to get out of there. You just have to have the will for it.

It's Time to Cue in

During a time in your life when things are falling hard and fast. When the pressure becomes too much. Meditation is part of your wellness, it will help you. Even in the darkest of time, it will bring in a breath of fresh air. In this modern age, stress has become a part and parcel of life. We are always worrying about one thing or the other. Meditation is the breather that your mind and body both need from time to time. 

No matter where you are, or what time is. These few tricks and tips will prevent your minds ascend into stress. But first, let's take a look at the reality of meditation.

Meditation is a careful balance of our thoughts and emotions

“Peace Out,” Says Meditation  

Meditation is the primary act of descending your body into a state of calmness. quite a powerful tool to keep your mind at ease, and helps to stop the thoughts from running wild.

So, if you are looking for a perfect excuse to sit back and relax, mediation is the key to wipe out all of your worries and anxiety. It’s all about focusing your energy on breathing (calmly). Into merging your mind and body in a single entity (synchronized breathing pattern).

From what people have experienced and shared they believe that it allows you to cope with life and to nurture personal growth.  However, once you understand what is meditation, you have the window of opportunity to evolve into a better person.

Moreover, meditation is one of the best ways to reduce anxiety and stress. Some even use it for pain management. Therefore, it puts things into perspective which allows you to make better decisions and be more self-aware while making those decisions. 

 Do you really need to be stressed to opt for meditation? Nah! stressing does not give you a free passage to say “I’m all well in mind and body because I meditate” because otherwise, that would be a white lie.

However, the reasons vary from person to person. Mind you, a person who even has trouble sleeping or suffers through an eating disorder can use meditation for their benefit. It can provide them with instant relief. 

Over time, it has a deeper effect on your mind and personality.

Meditation is the Realm of Possibilities- What to Expect?

Meditation helps you grow from state of chaos to self-nurture

The most wonderful aspect of meditation is that it builds resilience over time. It gets you into the practice of responding to the challenges in your life from a more relaxed, mindful place. so that comes as a huge relief for many individuals.

It can look intimidating at first, tiring, or even boring as hell but it’s human nature to be cautious of trying new things. Reading about meditation makes it look difficult or too much work. When the reality is the opposite of that.

There is absolutely no need to be apprehensive. There are various ways of practicing meditation. Every individual can select the flavor that resonates with them.

You know the pleasure you get from eating ice-cream? That first spoonful that drives you to moan out the goodness. In the same way, you can select different meditation techniques.

Like meditation, mindfulness is an act of patience. 

“In mindfulness practice, we are learning how to return to, and remain in, the present moment—to anchor ourselves in the here and now on purpose, without judgment”

Along with the state of calm, it provides you that much-needed space in your life.

Let’s Start on The Process, Shall We?

  • Scratch That Itch

It starts with breathing. You will be like a  newborn, who needs to breathe to come into this world. Now and then, you need that fistful of breath as well. if you can master your breathing then you have half the control over your mind desire. controlling the breathing pattern is a proven tacit for weight loss too!

  • Get in a Comfortable Position and Sit Still

Close your eyes. Focus on your breath, inhale, and exhale through your nose.

In doing so, make sure to sit in a comfortable position to attain better results. You can consider using a buckwheat meditation pillow to have a sitting and kneeling support as you meditate. It can help reduce physical discomfort and keep you focused throughout the session. It can also prevent body misalignments because it helps ensure your spine is in the proper position when meditating.   

  • Meditation Helps to Focus your Mind

Clear your mind of all the junk you keep inside and overthinking about it unnecessarily. Breathe steadily. Don't focus on ‘not thinking'. When thoughts enter your mind, acknowledge them, and let them go. Return your focus to present and breathe.

  •  Continue Breathing

Take a deep inhale and then exhale slowly. Continue this process for five more minutes.

How do you feel? Relaxed? How long was it before your focus wavered?

“We “practice” mindfulness so we can learn how to recognize when our minds are doing their normal everyday acrobatics, and maybe take a pause from that for just a little while so we can choose what we’d like to focus on”

  • Calm v/s Chaos

Mindfulness is becoming aware of everything around you. It allows you to see, hear, smell, and feel better. therefore it gives you a much-needed perspective and a break from stress.

One thing you need to remember is, stress hinders your mental and physical growth. So, the more control you have the way you feel the more you can control you will have over your reaction to unexpected surprises.

I know, it sounds a bit redundant. I mean, why would you ever in your right mind organize or try to organize chaos. What good can come out of it? Well, let me enlighten you: when you focus all your energy into breathing you calm down. besides, it also heightens your awareness and other senses as well. Once the fog of stress is cleared, you will become self-aware. 

 

So, once you control your breathing, you can find your grounding point. Your grounding point is your blank slate. Fill it with positive thoughts, even if its a chocolate sundae, or whatever that keeps you the calmest.

Keep an open mind and observe your surroundings through your senses. Any thought that might send your brain into a panic, keep it grounded. Don't let it disrupt your steady flow.

If you Don’t Achieve Calmness in the First Try, Don’t Worry!

 Inner peace comes at a different time for everyone. Every mind is unique. This was just one example of how to meditate and what it can do for you. You can also meditate to:

  • Relieve anxiety
  • Fight depression
  • Relax your body
  • Let thoughts go by easily
  • Seek simplicity
  • Improve health
  • Let go of the drama
  • Manage anger
  • Improve focus
  • Connect better
  • Understand your pain

 

Meditation is no more complicated then you have read above. It is that simple… and that challenging. The key is to commit to it. Just five minutes of your time can do wonders for you.
